Anyone that guessed...guessed right. The project next to the sewing machine was indeed hexagons. It was sewn together in strips and was very quick to put together. I used 2 1/2" strips from my scrap box and just used a 60o ruler to cut the triangles. The top is for Project Linus and will be basted up and quilted in the near future.

It's not just me that's been sewing.
My DD2, who is 7, was given an embroidery kit for her birthday. I honestly thought she'd get all in a muddle with it, but she faired very well. I started her off and knotted the cotton and away she went. Here she is sewing the letters of her name onto a felt bag.

And here is a cat she stitched. I drew the cat and she did the backstitch...again I thought that she might get the cotton in a tangle, but she didn't and she's quite keen to sew some more!

It really isn't a surprise that DD2 wants to have a go when she watches me and then watches her sister sewing too. My eldest is working on a project for GCSE Art and has incorporated paint, beads and stitching! I'm really impressed with both their works.

It just goes to show your children do learn through example. Here I've been sewing away and not even thinking that I'm being watched. I hope both of them continue their interest in thread and sewing as it can bring so much enjoyment.
Lastly for you...I have a picture of my completed Cheddar Cheese Doll Quilt top. I'm thrilled with it (though don't look too closely at those intersections!) So many seams to match, but not all of them do! I must admit I'm a little tempted to put some borders on it and maybe some applique in the borders...but I can't decided if I want to do that because it is what I have always done.... Or maybe I'm just not used to a quilt being borderless... I'll wait a bit before I decide and get it ready for quilting.

Until next time...
