Jane, I bought a ruler just like that on a recent shopping trip and I have a japanese fan quilt to do but the magazine has not printed the pattern correctly which is why it hasen't even been started yet. I now realise I can use my ruler I don't know why I had not thought of it before so thank you for the light bulb moment X
