As you know we are in the midst of a complete kitchen renovation. I wasn't sure if I had the nerve to share pictures as it is a bit like airing one's dirty laundry, but after this weekend and seeing the first signs of the new kitchen I just couldn't hold back.
We live in a typical 1930's semi detached and at some point in the past one of the owners took it upon themselves to knock through to the old coal shed and make the kitchen bigger. (you can see from the position of the beam half way through the room where the original wall was.) As a result of this modification the kitchen always felt like two halves and I'm hoping that with the design I've planned out that the kitchen will feel more like one room and have a better flow to it. The DH and I pulled out the old units and early last week we had the nicest electrician come and install all the new sockets. (If you are in the Rugby area and need an electrician let me know..I can recommend a good one!)
This first picture is the sink area after we had removed the wallpaper...
We still have A LOT more work..not to mention installing the rest of the kitchen and the finishing touches, but I just wanted to share this sneak peak.
Many thanks to my DH and his Dad for all the hard work this weekend installing the sink. I know how much work it was and I really appreciate it!!!
Until next time...

This is what we found behind the unit...yuk You can see the shadow where the old Belfast sink would have been...
The messy in-between stage

And the first units with the new Double Belfast sink from Ikea...
Almost After

LOVE that sink...I want a new white double sink when we finally get around to ordering one...
Will you keep the tile? I love the old 30's tile...but we have a 70's ranch and it doesn't look so cool..
Your kitchen project is coming along nicely. Lots of work but it will be worth it in the end. Your new sink area looks wonderful. I can hardly wait to see the rest of the project as it unfolds!
Great sink! It will be so worth it when the dust clears...
Ooooh, very nice! I want a sink like that, but the hubs wants one that fits under the countertop. What does he know anyway? You must be very excited -- at least you're showing progress!
Love the new sink. It all takes time but it will be worth it. Lucky you have someone who can do these things.
Love Shirley.x
I love Ikea!!! Your kitchen looks better and better :o)!
It looks awesome so far!!!! It is a lot of work, but you will love it when it is finished.
Beautiful! Tell me about your sink I want one!!! Park City, Utah
You've gotten a lot of work done already. I love your new sink and the light there is just wonderful! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your progress.
Ooohh Jane, I have that Ikea sink and I love, love it. We renovated our kitchen 4 years ago and made three rooms into the kitchen dining. Once the nightmare of mess was over it's just fabulous. I think I have photo's in the really early posts on my blog...

What a transformation already! Can't wait till the 'christening of the new kitchen party'!
Wow! That is going to be great. You will never regret choosing a Belfast sink - but you'll also never be able to go back to a normal sized sink again...I speak from experience!
Wow...that looks gorgeous! its gonna be great when its all done...keep posting photos! and congrats on the new kitchen :)
Beautiful! I look forward to seeing the total after shot. I do like the wall with the messy tiles, though, it really tells a story!
Oh that must feel wonderful. Love a big sink.
It's looking good! Renovations are such a pain, but worth it in the end!
The sink looks fabulous! Once you're all finished, I bet you'll love your new kitchen!
Your kitchen renovation is so exciting! Will be fabulous to have the newly done up space. So far so good - the sink is perfect.
WOW!!! You lucky duck finding those lovely tiles! Our house is the same, 1930's kitchen built in old coal shed! The little old lady next door and the one next door to her, have both lived in their houses (the same) since they were BUILT!! One just died age 100, but the other still has the original house as it was then - ie: still a coal shed where the kitchen should be! Can;t wait to see finished pics, and congratulations on your blogaversary! :)
