My DD2 creative process...

Amongst the gifts my DD2 has received for Christmas.  The Usborne Drawing Animals Book has been a winner.  The book shows a variety of drawing techniques and for my daughter who loves animals and loves drawing this has been fabulous.  She insisted I share her drawing from yesterday...honestly...she kept saying will you put this on the internet!! :o)

Little round up before the end of the year...

Hope you have had a wonderful Christmas. I did and I still am.  The lazy days between Christmas and New Years are wonderful and I'm thoroughly enjoying the time with my family.

Santa ;o) came to visit

My DD1 got me some Tilda Fabrics...

And my DH got me a new lens for my camera...a 50 mm 1.8 (for those interested in the technical side)  It will allow me to get a very shallow depth of field and to take pictures in lower light.  The picture of Santa above was taken without a flash.  And the picture below shows the shallow depth of field.  The only challenging thing about my new lens is that with my camera body it can't auto-focus sooo it is back to basics for me and learning how to manually focus.  I got some hit and miss shots over Christmas, but I reckon with more practice I'll get the hang of it.  You might wonder why it didn't get the one with auto-focus and the reason is that it was 3 times the price!!

Also with a change in routine and less running around I have been able to return to some hand stitching and have started another hand-applique project.  I'm using Sharon Schamber's method of needle turn using a sew and wash stabilizer.  I'm using Floriani Stitch 'n Wash and I'm loving the results.  I think I might have this needle-turn method cracked.

Last minute Christmas Crafts

I just couldn't resist making a couple more birds for the tree.  They are so quick to make and make great gifts!  The ones I made here have all but one gone to new homes.

More Patchwork Pottery Birds

Only a few days to go until the big day.  The children are finally off school and we have great plans of crafts and cookies (of course...it may never happen...but it is the thought that counts!! LOL)  I'm trying to kick a cold that DD2 brought home from school and DD1 is doing her best to keep it away...though I suspect it might have already taken hold.  Tis' the season after all!!

The decorations are up and the cards are sent...

I have finally caught up on the early Christmas chores of the season.  The decorations are up, the cards are sent, the teacher's gifts are bought and wrapped and I can finally breathe a little sigh of relief...at least for a day or two. :o)

My daughter, who is as passionate about knitting as I am about quilting, made me this lovely English Christmas Pudding for the tree.  I was absolutely thrilled with it and will hang it on the tree for years to come with pride!

I, too, had a go at making some decorations.  These little birds are made from the Patchwork Pottery pattern designed by Laurraine.  If you fancy a go yourself, you can find the pattern on her ETSY shop and read her blog HERE.  Her work is just beautiful!

Lastly, I thought I would reveal the answer to the riddle in my last post.  This is what was under the presser foot and is now under my Christmas tree!  I have been meaning to make a tree skirt for a number of years and this year I decided it was high time I got it done...of course starting on a tree skirt in November does provide a challenge or two and I very nearly didn't have it done in time.  Well, I say in time, in time according to my children!!

Still here...

Just a quick update to say I'm still here..I'm just in the thick of some frantic sewing.  Here is a sneak peek of one of the items I've been working on..a full reveal will follow shortly.  I had hoped to sew this all by hand, but the time just wasn't there so I've machine applique and machine quilted this item and I'm thrilled will the results.

Until next time...
