...to sleep in a castle? Well, guess what?! That's just what I got to do!! This past weekend my brother-in-law got married and the location for the reception was at Caverswall Castle. Caverswall Castle was build in 1275 and has a long history. At one time it was used as a convent and the priests used to stay in the turrets. Now it has now been restored to be used as a venue for events. The rooms in the castle were very grand and the turrets were 2 story family rooms. We stayed in one of the turrets and I must admit I didn't get much sleep as the moon was shining through the curtains and I kept waking up thinking "I'm sleeping in a turret in a castle under moonbeams!!" It was magical! Not surprisingly, I took A LOT of pictures and have managed to choose the best to share with you....(see, you are always in my thoughts! :o)
Until next time...
This was one of the turrets from taken from the roof of the castle

This was our door to our turret...For once I was glad to be short!!

The windows on the upper floor

A selection of pictures from the wedding

One of the rooms in the castle

A cat that we met along the way...

The lane from the castle back towards the road

The roses growing outside the turret

Oh look a quilt!! LOL - had to sneak this one in.
I finished my DD2 princess quilt in time to take it with us to the castle.

And lastly, the sign on the door of the church...it made me smile :o)

How wonderful! And your photos are beautiful - one of the nicest post-wedding presents we had was copies of friends' prints (waaaay before the digital age - I am a dinosaur!). Hope you're sharing yours with your brother-in-law.
And what could be more perfect for a night in a turret than a princess quilt.
These photos are just beautiful! I love the castle...I'm guessing it cost a pretty penny to stay there. Such a great place to snap photos of a quilt!
What a lovely place! And what lovely photos! (As always!) You could become a photographer... Ever thought about teaching photography online? I'd be one of your students!
what a magic place to stay. So pretty! It reminds me of Coombe Abbey Hotel - have you ever been there? Love the princess quilt!

What a magical place for a wedding. And, you must have just been in 'heaven' floating from room to room and sleeping in a turret. Memories made for a lifetime.
That was fun to see the wedding photos...thanks for thinking of us!
What a magical place...no wonder you couldn't sleep!
I can understand not being able to sleep in the castle....it IS every girls dream. And the stuff of every romance novel too!
Oh Jane - how exciting. I think like you I would have kept waking up too. What great weather too - looks like an amazing day.
Hope to see you at FoQ.
How simply wonderful and magical to sleep in a castle! I don't think I would have slept at all and would have been up all night wandering around and looking out windows. The castle cat is very lucky :) Spectacular photos too!!!
A wonderful setting for a wedding (or a princess!)

I'm going to send this link to my new DIL, just married July 13, what a dream come true is right! And a princess quilt to go with the wedding in a castle, perfect! I love the picture of the country lane.
Word recognition: vater, what German's put on their roses to help them grow. :)
