With things getting back to normal after out half term break, I've managed some quality time with my sewing machine. These blocks are for Flutterwheels, a group I attend with Lynda 6 times a year. The challenge was to try our hand a New York Beauty block in 2 different sizes. I really love how the batiks work so well with the pattern.
Next I have been working on reducing the number of strips in my scrap baskets with this Chinese Coin quilt. After seeing Kate's Chinese Coin quilt at the meet-up (as shown on the last picture on this post) I decided to move away from white and use red. I think is is very striking. I have planned for a pieced border...so this is just the beginings.
Until next time...

Gorgeous NYB blocks - I have one to make for the Birthday Block Swap and I absolutely hate doing them so I can categorically state it will be the very last one I ever do!

Your New York Beauty is going to be just wonderful!! I love all the spikes. The red sashing between the coins is just fabulous. Makes the quilt POP!
This post comes at just the right time. I've sorted through my fabric and found that "scrap stash" that has grown and grown! Seems that the Chinese Coins is the best use of that fabric and very pretty I think. Your NYB are truly very pretty, that's going to be a fantastic quilt. I'm off to the sewing room to do some cutting!
I love New York Beauty blocks!
NYB and batiks just look great together! I made one in brights for my nephew years ago and said I'd never make another but now...I love how they look!
Stunning NY Beauty! They do work well with batiks. And the coins are always fun -- the red really makes the whole quilt pop!
