There has been a great amount of activity at the bird feeder and I'm glad to see that our Goldfinches are back. Look at this fellow posing for the camera!
One day after work I came home to find this little guy was hopping around the garden. It is a baby Jackdaw. I could hear the mother squawking as she tried to encourage it to fly and finally after an hour or so of swooping into the garden she got him out.
Until next time...

That goldfinch is gorgeous. I can't get them to come into my garden. We seem to have every other bird though.
love and hugs Gina xxx
I've never seen a goldfinch like that. I'd love to have one in my garden but we (UK and US) have exchanged enough damaging species (starlings and gray squirrels).
That goldfinch is so unusual. I have never seen one like it before. It is beautiful! I love seeing different birds.
We have lots of Goldfinches but they don't look like that. How pretty. Do they like niger thistle? Ours eat thistle and black oil sunflower seeds.
They are great photos. The markings on the Goldfinches are beautiful.
What a beautiful goldfinch - don't think I've ever seen any here with red on their heads! Glad to see you're back posting.
What a beautiful red faced bird! I don't think I have ever seen anything like it. We have such boring birds here where I live on the California coast. See one sea gull, you've seen them all!
That is a beautiful goldfinch! I seem to be surrounded by Cardinals this year....and a very aggressive hummingbird that is buzzing me while I try and work on the mosaics!
Your goldfinch is beautiful! The ones we have here just have yellow heads, I love the red of yours!
Are the goldfinches in the UK different than the US? I must look this up. My goldfinches are just yellow with no red. I have a family of red-bellied woodpeckers in my yard (parents and three little ones). I haven't been able to get a photo yet. Your photos are amazing!
well there is some wildlife we dont get in our neck of the woods...beautiful little creatures, arent they :)
