I have done well this week. Not only have I managed a blog post everyday I have also managed to make another block for the Country Club Quilt. I don't think that would have normally been achieved, except I saw Stina's post about her progress and the replacement flag block she made and inspiration struck. It make perfect sense to draft a Union Jack and include that in my quilt instead of the American Flag which is included in the pattern. Luckily I had the perfect fabrics thanks to my shopping spree at the carboot 2 weeks ago. I used the image tracing feature in EQ6 to get the design and I paper pieced all the slanted bits. I couldn't believe how easy EQ made the process. For more Union Jack and fabric combos have a look at this and this.

Lovely. A bit of British pride in a polite and unassuming (therefore very British!) kind of way.
This is such fun!!!
That looks gorgeous!
What a great Union Jack! It's so common to see a quilted US flag, but that's the first Union Jack I've seen. It really has a quilty look to it, too.
Oops, Illini Country Stitchers is me, logged into my other account, sorry. I always try to leave comments under my personal account to save confusion, just goofed this time.
I wondered what your flag would look like. Very good! Did you notice that there is another smaller flag to be made in the quilt?

Lovely flag, I have been wanting to make a union jack cushion for ages, and now you have given me the inspiration to make one. I look forward to seeing more of your quilt xx
The Union Jack looks fantastic in those fabrics! It's a boring image but you have made it quite fun!
I love your flag! My husband loves all things Union Jack, although he's an Irish Italian American. He keeps trying to talk me into making him the Union Jack gloves we saw on Ravelry.
