News shoes and new fabric...

Boy has it really been 9 days since I last posted. I guess I've been rather busy with life in general and I'm really looking forward to catching my breath over the next couple of weeks while the children are home...sounds impossible doesn't it!

I had a lovely squishy package arrive today from Linda in Winnipeg. (or Winterpeg as she calls it) I sent her some British sweets and in return she send me these lovely sweet fabrics! I can't wait to find the perfect project for them. They are so bright and fresh and make me hope that spring will arrive sooner than later.

I also made an impulsive purchase today...which is very out of character for me. I normally work from a list...and if it's not on the list then I don't buy it. But today, I was sitting in New Look waiting for my DD1 to try on some jeans and I looked up and there were some patchwork converse! I just had to have a pair. When I was about 15 I had a pair of black converse that I wore 'til they were thread bare and as soon as I slipped my feet into these patchwork ones today they were as comfortable as the ones I had all those years ago. Funny how some things just make you smile!

Well, if I don't post before the weekend, I hope you all have a safe and wonderful Easter.

Impossible to title...

I'm afraid this is one of those posts that has un-related things that I want to share...so it might be a bit dis-jointed...bear with me.

First I wanted to share with you, something I thought was really cute. My DD2 (age 5) decided to copy out the specials from Sainsbury's and indicate which ones she thought was worth putting on the shopping list. She put so much detail into it...right down to the Pepsi label! (click on it to get a larger view) Obviously Champagne and Beer aren't worthy for the list! LOL

I also wanted to share a link to a very good blog for blogger advice. Lately I've noticed a few people have been asking for help on things like how to add your signature or how to write a Code Box for your side bar. Amy at Split Decisions has all those answers plus many more. It's worth bookmarking.

Sorry for jumping around...there wasn't going to be a pretty way of linking these items!

Showing off my pincushions

Blueberry Lane Designs is asking us to show off our pincushions as she has unearthed 2 copies of Lynette Anderson's pincushion book which she is giving away. Here are my 2 pincushions which I use in tandem. One sits on the ironing board and the other sits by the sewing machine. What I do is I pin at the ironing board (particularly when I'm pinning rows or borders) and then when I take the pins out at the machine I have a pincushion sitting there at the ready. When the one at the sewing machine gets full..I swap them over and then I'm set to go.

When the postman rings twice...

..or in my case more than twice. ..you know he's got a box of goodies!! I knew it must be from Darcie in America. I was the lucky winner of her giveaway a few weeks ago and knew it was on its way. What I didn't know was how generous the gift would be. She sent me fabric, chocolate, a Bareroots pattern, a lovely notebook covered by some of Darcie's beautiful handy work as well as a postcard that she made. There were printed postcards which are far too pretty to use and some hand-dyed cotton threads. Words can't convey how spoiled I feel right now. I've had a miserable week due to a cold and Darcie's generosity has made me feel much much better! THANK YOU!

March BQL Bag

I'm very ahead of myself getting my BQL bag made in the first few days of the month....an achievement which is likely never to repeat!
It went together very quickly, but I'm not sure I'd make a second one. I started with the top fabric (which is also the lining) and then I drove into my neat strip bins for coordinating fabric. Thanks to Bonnie's system I was able to put my hands on just the right sizes of strips, in the right colours without cutting into my stash. It turned out really well but with 9 more bags to go I'm going to need to think of a way to store them all...perhaps a bag for the bags!!! :o)
