...3, 4 and many more to get this big quilt basted! Little by little I got this 80" square quilt pinned and under the machine for the first lines of machine quilting.
Also, I wanted to share this little picture of a special visitor to our bird feeder. He is a European Goldfinch...though everyone here just calls them a goldfinch...not to be confused with the American ones :o)

Well done!! That's a big job!
What a great feeling that is!! close to a finish now.
They are very well looked after birds! Tracey
Oh, that pin basting part is my least favorite thing about quilting. Congratulations on getting that done.
I've never pin basted, but my fingers ache just thinking about it.
Yikes that's a lot of pins. I have never pin basted anything that large. I use the same size you show and a fellow quilter told me to use smaller ones but what difference would it make?!
Anyway you look at it, that's quite an achievement.
Handsome bird! I spent the day at my computer (taking a course) and watched American Goldfinches out in the yard. It was a rainy day so there were all kinds of birds at the feeders. :-)
Ooh, look, the seams meet perfectly too! Your quilt is made for two! Snuggle underneath with your sweetie while watching a great movie.
That is one BIG bird. Is it on steroids?
What a gorgeous Goldfinch. They'll come ito the front garden but not my back garden for some reason. I love the markings on them.
Love and hugs Gina xxx
Isn't sandwiching just the pits - my least favourite part - then you can get on to the fun part, quilting! Goldfinches are a great source of joshing in our house as Sarah once mistakenly called them Goldtits - of course the rest of the family never cease to remind her of this :o))))))))
Love your bird feeders...I love English bird songs. Impressed with the pins.
Cool photo of the pinning process! It kind of gives you that sensation of 'the end of this quilt is way off on the horizon' feeling that you get when you're basting!
Great job on the quilt!
Your comment on the Europian and American Goldfinch made me think of the Monty Python Holy Grail with the Swallows african or Europian makes me laugh to think about it.
Layering up quilts is my all-time unfavourite job, especially when they're so big!
Great job basting that huge quilt. Pin basting is by far my least favorite.
Wow, 80" on a home machine???? Amazing!
