...right down to the rain!
This past weekend we attended the Dunchurch Village Fete. My youngest daughter was one of the princesses (there are 2 along with Miss Dunchurch) and was part of the parade. The interesting thing about this is that 6 years ago my eldest was Miss Dunchurch..it's done on a lottery, so both my girls have been lucky.
Although the weather was the pits, the atmosphere was quite festive and I thought it just really felt as an English Fayre should do. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy.

These are a couple of the cottages ..now both restaurants.

The parade...my DD2 is in that DB9...the hubby was sooooo jealous :o)

An impressive tank...

A car from a different time and place...
At the end of the parade everyone congregated on the cricket field next to the village hall.

Great, great photos, Jane. Thanks for sharing.
These kind of happennings are so good for children. I love them!
Lovely photos! (Love the sparkle tights LOL)
Love the cheeky alpacas! Thanks for the very English photos. They remind me of a trip we took with our English friends. I long to experience England all over again.
What fun! That knight just KILLS me! I'm pretty sure sparkly tights are a more recent invention and did not exist way back when.
It looks a typically English summer event, right down to the miserable weather!
I love English village fêtes. Isn't the weather just typical for an midsummer's day?
Looks like lots of fun. Reminds me of a scene out of "Calendar Girls" movie although it may not be anything similar (I know very little about English village goings-on).
I would've loved a ride in that car too
Oooh, look at that fabulous thatched roof in the first photo! And what beautiful pictures -- it looks like you had a wonderful time. Thanks for sharing -- I love to see stuff like this -- being North American bound and all LOL!
Thanks for sharing the day. Looks interesting. Congratulations to DD2 for her participation in the day. Lucky indeed!!
Love the pics...Thanks for sharing oh I remember those damp cold english days. In my fantasy world I live on a farm with a black and white cow and an alpaca LOL.... I love them apparently in the real world they aren't that charming.
Gemma is so jealous that your daughter got to ride in the DB9. I prefered the tank myself.
Glad you all had a good day.
love and hugs xxx
Shame about the weather, but as you say, typically British!
Looks like you all had a good time anyway.
I just first visited your blog. I love the quilts here. And I absolutely like the pic of the knight in tights!
Dispite the rain it looked like you had a lot of fun!!! Love the photos of the Alpacas, they look sooooo cute.
We have a lot of village fetes in this part of Cheshire and I have bee involved in 2 of the fetes in the villages where we do Scouts, in fact they are both coming up this weekend and the following weekend. This year we are involved in the second one.
Fun photos. I especially love that last one of the black alpaca. So cute! It made me laugh.
