Finally..A summer's day!

Oh what a day! Determined to enjoy the sunny weather... Determined not to stay at home and be taunted by the weeds and the grass that needs cutting... Determined that we would have a lovely family day out! And we did!

This morning I packed a picnic and told the family to get in the car that we were going out! Our first choice was to go to Conkers, which is an in
door/outdoor hands-on park with climbing frames and mazes, and is located up by Swadlincote..unfortunately it seemed to be the first choice of everyone and their aunt! The queue of people was out the door and wrapped around to the side of the building and we decided that we didn't want to spend our day with masses of people and didn't want the children to fight to see things and do things...so we all piled back into the car and I looked for the brown symbols on the map indicating places of interest. It was unanimously decided to head for the field of the Battle of Bosworth..and a lovely place it turned out to be. (If you want more info you can read about the history here and here) We followed the brown signs and that took us through Market Bosworth (Hi Sarah Jayne) and down some typical English twisty roads. Once there we found some picnic tables and had lunch, said hello to the cows ...

...and sat on a bench to contemplate life and the universe! Perfect!

Oh Jane if I'd have known you were this way you could have popped in for a cuppa. Glad you made the most of the great weather.

It sounds like a wonderful day! You captured the essence of it fully in the bench photo, priceless. I found you through "and sew it is", your comment about geocaching caught my eye. We also enjoy this great hobby/sport/passtime. I wonder if there was a cache at the park you visited? It is interesting the similarities - here in US we also have brown signs for parks and special places, and have found the battlefield parks to be especially peaceful and scenic.

Oh, and also in your previous post, the quilt blocks are very nice, are they black and white?

Have a great weekend!
