Finding a needle (quilter) in a VW Haystack

Huh? You must be wondering how that title has anything to do with anything...but I assure you all will become clear...

Today we started our day with a trip to the car boot where I found a stall selling men's shirts for £1. After checking the labels for 100% cotton, I bought 3 of them to add to my collection. I still don't know what I'm going to do with them, but at a £1 each I wasn't going to leave them behind. I just nodded and laughed when the man complimented me on doing my husbands shopping! LOL

In other news, I wanted to share with you the first block I made on my new Bernie. I ordered a 1/4" foot for it and tried it out on Friday and it sews so beautifully..and accurately.

Now, back to that needle...This afternoon's field trip took us to Stanford Hall in Leicestershire where there was a huge display of Volkswagens of every shape, size and era. There was also an impressive amount of merchants selling everything from campervan salt and pepper shakers to every conceivable spare part for any of the VWs ever made and amonst all that I found a needlewoman...a quilter selling pillows and patterns! My husband almost couldn't believe his eyes that I managed to find something for me in and around all that car stuff. Well I'm not surprised...we quilters have a homing instinct for these things :)

What a great find - boht the plaids and the VW pattern! One of my proudist moments at university was when my 2 rommates and I changed the engine in my VW bug!

What a chuckle you've given me! A VW quilter-designer in with a bunch of car stuff. We quilters can sniff out another quilter from a mile away I think! (And I'm not referring to body odor LOL!)

Told you that Bernina was a good but :o) - and what a sweet Beetle quilt pattern. Love those shirts, especially the purple one and £1 each was a good deal

Oh... sound like a nice day! Nice beetle patern. I have two patterns in waiting! I think you would enjoy them. One of them you can place a photo of yourself driving the beetle! So little time lately! By Thursday I should be back into quilting. I needed a fix and blogging is the next best thing to quilting! Have fun!

The beetle pattern is a great find. My husband (then boyfriend) had an orange one when we met in England and no tank dial, so once in the middle of the night he ran out of petrol and I didn´t find it funny at the time (you know february, wind, rain and cold!). So much to beetles! I have a Bernina as well, a bit more recent and it sews everything I have been trying without problem. Great buy! Enjoy and take care.

The shirts are a good buy at £1 each - that's what I think I should pay, the prices in charity shops are getting extortionate (trouble is, I still can't resist them).

Funny how us quilters always seem to come together in odd places. Like the shirts!
